For Meisan's contest - color entry.

There was a river named Lethe, that the souls of Hades would drink from before reincarnation; it swept away their memories of pain and paradise.

There was also a mother, Mnemosyne: she inspired new life through memory.

Imagine that, at one distant point in the past, the two met. Each believing that she was saving the other, Lethe and Mnemosyne became locked together.

For the fleeting moment before each memory was discarded, Lethe saw-

And beautiful Mnem picked up the memories and returned them tenfold.
